Mavis
I am an experienced educator with over 24 years working with children, running my family day care business for the past 19 years.
Caring for children is my passion. I believe every child is unique and deserves a safe, supportive environment where they can build confidence, develop their skills, and explore their interests. My small group setting allows children to grow socially, emotionally, and physically while feeling secure and valued.
My program supports children’s development while gently guiding positive behaviour, in line with the Early Years Learning Framework. I focus on teaching values like respect, responsibility, cooperation, empathy and more through everyday moments and shared experiences. Children are encouraged to take part in routines and simple decision-making, helping them grow in independence and self-regulation while building strong social skills. Through this supportive environment, children develop a sense of belonging, wellbeing, and confidence as learners.
I value strong partnerships with families and aim to create a welcoming space where children and parents feel respected and supported. I believe children thrive when educators and families work together to guide their learning and wellbeing. Supporting children to develop positive values and life skills helps them grow into confident individuals and contributes to a caring community.
Katie
Welcome to our little pocket of magic here in Yeppoon!
I am Katie from Katie’s Little Learners. For the past 15 years, my family daycare has been filled with giggles, muddy footprints, paint-splattered masterpieces, and the kind of belly laughs that only children can create. With 24 years in the childcare industry, caring for children isn’t just what I do — it’s who I am.
I’m also a proud mum of three energetic boys, so trust me… I understand busy mornings, endless snack requests, and the importance of a strong cup of coffee!
Real life experience meets professional experience here!
My family daycare caters to all learners, from tiny babies discovering their toes to school-aged adventurers bursting through the gate with stories from their day. Every child is celebrated for who they are — their quirks, their questions, their big feelings and even bigger imaginations.
Our days are built around play-based learning because childhood should be hands-on, joy-filled and just a little bit messy. Think water play on warm days, creative art explosions, garden discoveries, construction zones, quiet book corners, and spontaneous dance parties.
Katie's Little Learners is lucky to be based in beautiful Yeppoon, with a gorgeous outdoor space where little explorers can run, climb, dig, create and connect with nature. Indoors, our environment is thoughtfully set up to be age-inclusive, nurturing curiosity, independence and confidence at every stage.
One of the most special parts of family daycare? The connections. With our smaller group setting, I’m able to build genuine, close relationships — not just with the children, but with their families too. You’re not just enrolling in care; you’re joining a little community where your child is truly known.
I feel incredibly privileged to watch children grow from babies into confident school kids, to witness first steps, first friendships, and first big achievements. That’s the heart of what I do.
If you’re looking for a warm, playful, experienced, and slightly quirky home-away-from-home for your child… you might have just found it.

I have nearly 12 years of experience in the childcare sector, and we are located in the lovely coastal area of Yeppoon, Queensland. I am passionate about providing a warm, welcoming, home-based environment where children feel safe, valued and supported. I provide care for children from 12 months of age in a nurturing small group setting.
Alongside my husband, who is a local paramedic, I have three beautiful children. Family is the heart of what I do, and I aim to create that same family feeling within my daycare. Our daycare space is separate from the family home and located on a large block, giving children plenty of room to roam, explore and play in a safe and natural environment. I am passionate about creating exciting learning experiences, and each month we explore a new theme that reflects the children’s interests and curiosities. I believe in building a strong sense of community within our daycare, and families are always welcome to contribute ideas and have input into our program.
